About
The Throughline
Sunny Agboju calls himself an incurable optimist and a walking question mark — someone who, however good a situation already is, can’t help asking how it gets better. That question shows up in three rooms: the boardroom, the page, and the screen. Underneath all three sits one belief: the outer life is proof of the inner one. Keep the hearth of the heart pure, and the rest — the strategy, the writing, the work — follows from that.
Origin Story
Before boardrooms, there was a classroom — and before that, a newsroom.
Sunny’s working life began teaching English Language and Literature, then reporting news, sports, and public opinion for a national newspaper. It wasn’t until the early ’90s, moving through advertising and client service, that the thread toward business really started — and it was at FedEx Red Star Express, rising over nearly a decade from Commercial Executive to Quality Assurance Manager to Special Projects Manager, that the real education happened: how to fix what’s broken in a business, and how to say it plainly enough that people actually change.
By the early 2000s, he was being handed companies to build from nothing — pioneer Managing Director, three times over, each one a startup with no playbook and no room for theory. Founding Prot Consulting in 2009 wasn’t a pivot so much as a natural next step: once you’ve been the one turning around three companies from scratch, the work becomes less about running one organization and more about lending that experience to as many as need it. His consulting was never going to be textbook doctrine — it’s real solutions, drawn from what has actually worked and failed.
But two other threads were running quietly underneath the whole time.
About forty years ago, long before Prot Consulting existed, Sunny started privately studying something no client ever asked him to study — the relationship between nature, man, and the universe. Decades of quiet research led him to one conviction: that man is a microcosm of the universe, carrying all its power and potential within him, and that anything he desires begins first in the mind. That conviction, followed patiently for four decades, is what eventually became The Inner Proof.
The third thread announced itself only recently. In March of this year, Sunny moderated a relationship seminar on why divorce is so common — and what might reduce it. One idea he offered that day stayed with him afterward: that relationships are living things, and living things only survive if they’re watered daily, with words. He’d already written several books quietly waiting to be published — but that one idea was the one he couldn’t leave alone. He distilled it into *Wake Up Loved*, and it became the first of his books to see daylight.
Three rooms. One man asking, in each of them, how things get better — in a boardroom he’s spent thirty years inside, in a study he kept for forty years before telling anyone, and in a book that took one seminar to finally get written.
Ask him why, and he’ll point to three things he’s spent a lifetime trying to do: awaken the entrepreneurial spirit in the people around him, help them reach what they’re actually capable of, and — in his own words — live respected, and die regretted.
